Acne

Acne is a bad condition, It regularly affects teenagers, but it can also be a problem in adulthood, where it can just appear.  I’ve had people that have come in, and they’ve said, “I’ve had perfect skin for years and then, all of a sudden, look. What’s happened? What’s going on?”

Are pimples and acne the same?

Pimples are another form of acne. When the skin’s pore becomes congested, swollen and inflamed; people refer to them as pimples!  However, whiteheads or blackheads usually have to develop an infection before the pimple forms!

What causes acne?

Everybody is different, so we have to find out why you’ve had an outbreak. We have to go on a little journey with you to find out if it’s related to your lifestyle.  Stress, diet and products can be contributory factors, amongst other things.

Stress aggravates skin conditions, the more we worry, the worse it gets its a self-fulfilling prophecy.  Eating foods that are high in sugar, saturated and trans fats. Using skin products that block your pores can also cause breakouts.  However, in my experience, acne tends to be caused by a combination of things; be aware!

Nine times out of ten, we can clear it for you, alternatively, get it under control. Using a variety of treatments and techniques.

Can acne cause scars?

Uncontrolled acne can be very uncomfortable and unsightly, in severe cases, it can lead to scaring.

Frequently, acne causes depressed scars these develop when there is a loss of skin tissue.  however, often, what is taken to be an acne scar isn’t, but more commonly post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Fortunately, this is a temporary discolouration of the skin and will eventually fade.

How can we help?

We can help, not only with active-acne but also reducing the appearance of the scars. But you will need to come in so that we can assess you and decide on a treatment plan.

Treatment Options

There are lots of treatments that can help, for example, Peels, HydraFacial. Choosing the right products and understanding why you’re using those products is essential. In many cases, we find that people are using too many products and don’t know how to look after their skin health.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a technique used mainly to rejuvenate and smooth the texture of facial skin. However, it can be used anywhere on the body.  Chemical peels remove the outermost layers of the skin and successfully reduce the appearance of scars.

How do chemical peels help your skin?

Chemical peels are liquids applied on to the surface of the skin to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells.

Hydrafacial What is it?

HydraFacial is about not just improving the appearance of the skin, but truly restoring youthful, healthy skin. It uses advanced, patented technology to deliver natural ingredients and nutrients including, hyaluronic acid, horse chestnut seed extract, red algae extract, copper, zinc and magnesium peptides. Also, the treatment has powerful antioxidants which work to counteract the damage of free radicals.  Which are caused by pollution, sunlight and stress, all of which accelerate the ageing process!
